Guam – The Governor’s office this afternoon announced that GovGum has leased 10 buses from a private company to help alleviate the school bus shortage.

A brief statement from Spokesperson Charlene Calip states that:

“As of early this afternoon, a total of 10 (ten) private company buses have been officially leased by the government of Guam to help meet the Guam Department of Education’s busing needs. These buses will assist in the transportation of our public school children as DPW continues to fix their fleet buses that are currently down. The 10 private buses are being leased on an as needed basis.”

While it will help, DPW has said that they need a total of 38 buses to get the school bus schedule back on track and alleviate the 2 hour waits that some students have been experiencing.
