Some 10,668 tax refund checks have already been processed and checks are being mailed today and on Monday, said Krystal Paco, the administration’s press secretary.

Paco told Andrea Pellacani on NewsTalk K57 that the checks being mailed are for error-free returns filed on or before March 31, 2019.

“So if you fall within this date, check your mail this weekend,” Paco said.

All in all, the Department of Revenue & Taxation and the Department of Administration will mail 10,668 tax refund checks totaling approximately $24.4 million including refunds garnished to repay government debts for error-free returns filed on or before March 31, 2019.

Due to the thousands of returns being processed, checks will be mailed between today and Monday.

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero announced earlier this week that some $25 million may be released by the end of this week, with the remainder of due tax refunds paid by Oct. 15.

This is a result of the $70 million in Section 30 funds that the administration received last week.

According to Adelup, those awaiting tax refunds will not have to wait much longer and the administration will be paying out, in short order, qualified A-status tax refunds filed to date, thanks to the cash boost from the receipt of the Section 30 funds.

Paco assured that the money is already there for the tax refunds. It’s just a matter of processing the refunds such as preparing the individual checks and stuffing them in envelopes.
