 ALLEN, WASLE TAKE TOP SPOTS IN 11TH ANNUAL XTERRA GUAM CHAMPIONSHIP 

 

Piti, GU — Ben Allen of Australia and Carina Wasle of Austria made their way through a muddy course to claim the top spots in the 11th annual XTERRA Guam Championship on Saturday at Port Authority Beach in Piti. Allen finished first in the mens pro division, boasting a time of 2:26:28, while Wasle finished strong as the top women’s pro with a total time of 2:44:21.

Rounding out the top three in the men’s pro division was Bradley Weiss of South Africa with a time of 2:36:42 and Takahiro Ogasawara of Japan with a time of 2:40:17. Just behind Wasle in the women’s pro division was Jacqui Slack of the UK coming in at 2:44:51, followed by Guam’s Mieko Carey with a time of 2:56:10.

Outside of the pro division, Peter Lombard was the top amateur finisher, coming in 8th place overall and dominating the men’s 35 to 39 division with a time of 2:53:48. Erin Johnson of Colorado crossed the finish line with a time of 3:37:18, as the top amateur female finisher and first in the 35 to 39 division.

In the relay division, Team Triple J Young’uns, comprised of Jessica Jones, Jake Jones and Jonah Jones, nabbed the top team honors with a total time of 3:00:37.

This marked the 11th year for XTERRA Guam, and its fourth year as a championship event, meaning the pro athletes compete for their share of the $15,000 prize purse, and the amateur athletes compete for qualifying entries to the XTERRA World Championships in Maui.
