Proceeds Of ‘Kick the Fat 5K’ Will Go To Japan Relief


Guam – The 15th Annual Pay-Less Kick The Fat 5K, Guam’s largest 5K, has announced that, along with Erica’s House of Hope and Guma’ Mami, Inc., a portion of the proceeds from the Kick The Fat 5K Run/Walk will also go to the American Red Cross: Japan Disaster Relief.

Registration forms are now available at all Pay-Less Supermarkets (Hagåtña, Sinajana, Oka, Dededo, Yigo, Mangilao and Micronesia Mall) and at Hornet Sports in Tamuning. Early entry fees are: $3 for students, $5 for adults and $15 for a family of four (max). Race day entry fees are $5 for students, $8 for adults and $20 for a family of four (max). Registrants will receive a free Pay-Less Goes Green reusable shopping bag when they enter.

A Kick the Fat dri-fit running shirt will be provided to the first 2,500 finishers. Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age group, along with a trophy for 1st place male and female overall. All runners will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a trip for two to a US destination courtesy of Delta Airlines. Entertainment will be provided with lots of giveaways and prizes and a huge array of healthy refreshments generously donated by the sponsors of the event.

The Community Fair will be largest in the 15 year history of the event, with over 25 health, fitness and environment organizations hosting booths – demonstrations and offerings will range from massage therapy demonstrations, health screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar testing), fitness center membership program offerings, eco-friendly tips and information and community-based non- profit group information. Department of Public Health, Calvo’s SelectCare, American Cancer Society, Larkin Chiropractors, Advance Chiropractors, Erica’s House of Hope, JIIVANA Spa for Well-Being, Island Girl Power,Kontenda’s, Synergy Studios, Guam Diabetes Association, Foremost, Get Healthy Guam, Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault & Family Violence, DLS Lab, 4 Life, UOG Green Army and the University of Guam EFNEP program will all be hosting booths.
