Wear pink and join the fight against breast cancer.
Guam – Get your running shoes ready for the 16th Annual Strides for the cure 2K/5K run & walk!
This Saturday, wear pink and join the fight against breast cancer.
All proceeds will stay on Guam and go towards Guam Cancer Care and Kids For the Cure, a cancer education and physical fitness program.
Founders Donna and Jude Baker explain what racers can expect while participating in this weekend’s fun run.
“Years ago, we were diagnosed with breast cancer on our wedding weekend and after getting treatment in the states and all the outreach and the support that we found form our community in Guam, we decided we needed to do something to help the community of Guam,” said Donna Baker.
“It’s really inspired by our community,” explained Guam Cancer Care’s Karina Quito. She added, “and all and everything we do is for our local community.”
Jude Baker agreed as well: “This is a small community and we all live here and unfortunately, it’s sad to say that all the families here have been touched by cancer… But really, I love this event because we get so many individuals from little kids who are out there trying their first [5K] trying to do their best all the way to old Manamko and cancer survivors out there just enjoying being out in the bay on a beautiful morning and seeing a whole lot of people. It really is a strong community event.”
Showtime is at 5:15 am. Go time is at 6am for the 5K and 6:15am for the 2K.
Entry fees are just $15 or $20 race day. You can register online at www.Strides2017.eventbrite.com.
