The Guam Community College held the completion ceremony for 18 participants who completed the MHHA Boot Camps III and IV. It took place on May 12 at its campus in Mangilao.

Caregivers provide care to ailing or aging family members so income-earners can seek gainful employment to provide for their family’s needs. These bootcamp completers are now able to provide care in three different environments: private residences, clinics, and hospitals.

The boot camp also can serve as a pathway into GCC’s Allied Health Programs for the successful participants. They can choose to continue toward an Associate of Science in Medical Assisting, and Associate of Science in Practical Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Emergency Medical Technician or EMT certification.

Bootcampers completed Medical Home Health Aide (Caregiver), OSHA 10-Hour General Industry in Health Care, Heartsaver/First Aid/CPR, Work Ethic, and WorkKeys NCRC.

GCC hosted the Medical Home Health Aide boot camp with partner agencies and organizations, which are: the Guam Department of Labor, Guam Economic Development Authority, Catholic Social Services, and Health Services of the Pacific HSP.
