The Guam Attorney General’s office has issued a warning advising the public to beware of any information posted under a fake Instagram ID using the name Leevin Taitano and displaying a picture of the Guam Attorney General.
Guam Attorney General Leevin Camacho’s middle name is Taitano.
The fake Instagram account reportedly offers a new tax free benefit program claiming to be sponsored by the World Health Organization.
A post on the AG’s official social media channels states – “Scammers are using Attorney General Leevin Taitano Camacho’s photo and information to SCAM YOU. Don’t be fooled! Find us at our official Instagram site: instagram.com/oagguam?igshid….”
Carlina Charfauros, the spokeswoman for the Attorney General’s Office, confirmed the post saying – “We put that out to make sure the public is aware that there are scammers using the AG’S photo and info.”
Charfauros said “consumers should not accept requests or respond to messages from that handle or user.”
