198th COVID-linked death; 127 new cases; 59 hospitalized

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 198th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on September 29, 2021. The patient was a 66-year-old male, unvaccinated, with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on September 23.

“Josh, Jeff, and I send our deepest condolences to the family of our island’s most recent loss. For those who grieve, may your loved one’s memories live forever in your hearts,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “Though these times unprecedented, our people’s resilient spirit and unwavering commitment to do what is best for one another will help us forge ahead to protect those we love.”

DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE. Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. Seek emergency medical care immediately or call 911 if you have trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion, inability to wake or stay awake, or bluish lips or face.

COVID-19 Test Results: 127 New Cases of COVID-19 

On Friday, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 127 new cases of COVID-19 out of 928 tests performed on September 30. 50 cases were identified through contact tracing.

To date, there have been a total of 15,168 officially reported cases, 198 deaths, 3,598 cases in active isolation, and 11,372 not in active isolation.

The CAR Score is 25.4.

There are 59 hospitalized for COVID-19.
