2 arrested for allegedly forging checks and stealing vehicle

On Monday, March 29, 2021, officers assigned to the Southern Precinct Command conducted a theft investigation involving forged checks and a stolen vehicle.

Preliminary reports suggest that during a traffic stop of a Toyota Tacoma in Merizo, officers learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen on March 28, 2021, in the Barrigada area.

Officers met with the female operator whom officers recognized as a person of interest relative to a burglary complaint that occurred in the Asan area. It was later learned that the operator, who was identified as 24-year-old Chercy Yosi, had four outstanding warrant of arrests.

A search of the vehicle was made in which officers discovered forged checks in the names of Chercy Yosi and the male passenger, later identified as 26-year-old Johno Souken. Officers also discovered within the vehicle suspected drug paraphernalia (ice pipe).

Chercy Yosi and Johno Souken were later transported to the Southern Precinct Command and were arrested for the following offenses:

Chercy Yosi was arrested for:

  • Burglary
  • Theft of Property
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Forgery
  • Criminal Facilitation
  • Guilt Established by Complicity
  • Conspiracy
  • Illegal Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and
  • Warrant of Arrest

She was booked and confined at the Department of Corrections.

Johno Souken was arrested for:

  • Burglary
  • Theft of Property
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Forgery
  • Conspiracy
  • Criminal Facilitation
  • Guilt Established by Complicity and
  • Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule II

Johno Souken was subsequently booked and released.

This case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
