Guam – Two men died in Mangilao this morning [Saturday] after the car they were in ran off the road, plowed through a guardrail, and struck a palm tree near Father Duenas High School.
Guam Police and Fire & Rescue responded to the call just after 1 am Saturday morning.
GPD Public Information Officer A.J. Balajadia says the 1998 red Mercury Mystique was heading south on Route 10 towards Route 4 when the driver lost control and crossed over into the north bound lanes and ran through the guardrail on the north bound lane by Father Duenas High in Mangilao.
The 29 year old man who was driving the car was transported to GMH where Nursing Supervisor Cely Mangrobang says his condition is stable. “He is awake and alert.”
Guam Fire & Rescue had to extract a 19 year old male passenger in the right-front of the where the car struck a palm tree. Rescue personnel used the jaws of life to get him out, and he taken to GMH where he died at at 2:45 am.

A 25 year old man in the back seat was taken to Naval Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 am.
The 2 deaths mark the 7th and 8th traffic fatalities of the year on Guam.
Guam Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
