2 St. John’s Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semi Finalists


Guam – St. John’s School is proud to have seniors Hunter Stephens and Libby Ro named as semi-finalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program representing the U.S. Territories and Commonwealth Islands for the year 2013.

“Last October more than 1.5 million high school students took the PSAT which resulted in identifying 16,000 students as semi-finalists,” stated Robert Kelly who is the Director of College Guidance at St. John’s.

Officials in Evanston, Illinois issued a press release on September 12 on its website. “To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semi-finalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.

About 90 percent of the semi-finalists are expected to attain finalist standing and more than half of the finalists will win earning the Merit Scholar title.”
