The Shieh’s tournament has become known as the preseason games for the girl’s volleyball league and gives us a preview of what to expect in the season. And the Sharks are now on the radar as a contender for this year’s title.
It’s Sharks coach Art Stanley’s first time to head a team and as a former referee he knows the importance of the tournament and what it means for the season. “The team got together during the summer and our goal was to do well in the tournament and they accomplished that goal and then some… now it’s back to business today and I hope the girls are humble but hungry and stay grounded… not only will we get better throughout the season but so will the other teams as well,” Stanley said in a phone interview.
The high school girls volleyball league officially starts this Friday at the Agat gym. The Southern High Dolphins will play the defending Lady Geckos. The Junior Varsity takes the court first at 5:30pm and the varsity will immediately follow that.
