TipOFF Down To Two

Guam – The Tamuning Typhoons C.J. Dela Cruz snatched an inbound pass with 1.6 seconds left to give the Typhoons a chance at the title in a rematch against the DLX All-Stars in the final game that’s happening tonight in the Holiday TipOFF Basketball Tournament.

The Typhoons got past the Inarajan Hawks in last night’s semi-final match-up thanks to Earvin Jose’s huge night.  Jose popped in 23 points, most of which came from far range.  Even with that performance the Typhoons still only won by a basket and erased a comfortable Hawks lead.  The Hawks were present every step of the way but the steal by Dela Cruz in the last second and a half sealed the championship berth for the Typhoons.

The Typhoons and the DLX All-Stars will play once more but this time winner take all.  The All-Stars defeated the Typhoons on Monday to send them to the losers bracket.

The game is at 7:30 tonight at the Tamuning Gym.  The 14 and under championship game is the before that at 6:30 with the MVP Junior Stars taking on the Barrigada Crusaders.
