Guam- Three teams advanced to the semifinals over the weekend in high school football.
One of the big games was the defending George Washington Geckos racking up a whole bunch stats in their 50-0 win over the Okkodo Bulldogs. The Geckos played like there was no tomorrow because losing meant there was no tomorrow. Valiant Borja tallied up a total of 101 versatile yards and Nathan Cruz put up 59 yards rushing. Quarterback Derek Santos passed for 70 yards and two touchdowns plus four two point conversion passes.
It wasn’t a good day to be a Bulldog quarterback. The Gekcos harrassed Shawn Sargent, who was dodging blitzes all night long. The Geckos will now challenge the Simon Sanchez Sharks in the semifinals which is this Saturday at 7:00pm at G.W. Field. The Sharks advanced by eliminated the Southern High Dolphins on Saturday.
Also advancing to the semis is the Father Duenas Friars. The Friars dropped the John F. Kennedy Islanders on Friday night and the Friars will now face the Guam High Panthers at Guam High at 3:00pm on Saturday.
The winners will advance to the final showdown.
