Guam – All things must come to an end and the soccer reign at Notre Dame is over. The Royals sixth title attempt was stopped thanks to a Guam High Panthers free kick that ended in a goal off a header by Meagan Speck in the first half and the fantastic efforts of the Panthers defense.
The Panthers mostly played defense throughout the match with the Royals constantly pressuring the goal. Panther goalkeeper Melanie Strudthoff made great saves to help keep the door shut on the Royals when the ball did get past the defenders.
Jonimonay Tedpahago had the opportunity to score on a free kick but she nailed the croosbar instead keeping the Royals off the scoreboard.
The Panthers great defense is what gave them their first girl’s soccer championship.
