Lady Geckos, Sharks and Cougars Undefeated

Guam-The high school girl’s volleyball season is in high gear. With the first week anxieties gone the defending George Washington Geckos are on a two game winning streak as they head into their third game against the Guam High Panthers. The Panthers are coming off a loss to the Academy Cougars who are also 2-0 after the opening weekend. You can put the Simon Sanchez Sharks in that prestigious group as well.

This time around, G.W. is going for their fifth straight title and starting on good momentum but there’s also some history in the two teams. These are the two teams in last year’s championship match, the Geckos middle blocker Kara Guerrero played for Guam High in that game and G.W. coach Bobbi Quinata’s first game as a head coach was against Guam High’s current coach Vivien Taitano.

Coach Quinata feels the Lady Geckos are coming along fine and are “still taking things one game at a time”.
