Guam- This past Sunday the IT&E Guam National Team returned from winning the gold in the Micronesian Games and brought that energy with them. IT&E eliminated MWR Big Navy from the race for the title by a score of 100-83. 5 members of the Natl team scored in the double digits. The team was led by Gino Han who popped in 24 points. John Chaco followed with 19, Mike Atoige drained 16 and Romeo Sanchez and Oscar Espinosa contributed with ten points each. Those five helped to squash the exceptional efforts of Navy’s Markus Howard who dropped in 25 points and Shasta Williams’ 22 points.
With this loss Big Navy is now a spectator. IT&E still have to go on and challenge the number one seeded Budweiser Kings who lost to the MVP Stars 102-110 in one more playoff game. JP Cruz did his usual tear of the court with 41 points. Regie Rechebong helped out in the win with 22 points. Eduardo Baza scored 30 points in the loss. The winner of the IT&E and Budweiser game will go on to challenge the MVP Stars in the best of three final series.
The playoff game is this Sunday at 2:00pm at the St. John’s Gym.
