Smith Under Suicide Watch At DMHSA

Guam – The man accused in the alleged pipe beating death of his common-law wife last Sunday remains under a suicide watch at the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse [DMHSA].

On the morning after his arrest last Sunday, 40 year old Roland San Nicolas Smith was observed rolling up his bed sheets in what appeared to be an effort to make a nose with which to hang himself. But before he got very far,  guards stopped him.

DOC Director J.B. Palacios said that because of his behavior and because of what Smith threatened to do to himself, Smith was taken for observation to mental health where he remains under lock and key.

Rosaries are being said nightly for the victim, Amanda Marie Tedtaotao Cruz, at the Santa Bernadita Chapel in Yigo. A funeral is scheduled on Saturday October 23erd at the same Yigo Chapel.
