Guam Hosting Little League Regionals

Guam – The Guam Little League (GLL) will be hosting the 2011 Asia-Pacific (ASPAC) Little League Baseball Majors Regional Tournament from July 08 to July 15, 2011 at the Guam Little League Northern Region Sports Complex in Dededo.

Asia-Pacific countries from The Philippines, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Korea, Indonesia, The Republic of China, Singapore, Thailand, The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas and Guam, will be participating in this prestigious event held annually and played by both boys and girls ages 11-12.

The Major Division tournament is considered the grand tournament of all the Little League tournaments held since it attracts the largest participation and commitment from countries in the ASPAC region in terms of teams and support.

The winner of this year’s tournament will advance to the Little League Baseball Majors World Series later in August 2011 at Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This World Series is the most publicized and marketed event conducted by Little League International. Of the eight Little League World Series held annually; it is the most watched series and televised in 120 countries to millions of viewers Worldwide.

GLL is planning fundraising events such as a raffle drawing, a 5K Run/Walk, and a Golf Tournament to help defray the costs of the tournament. Financial contributions and in-kind services are very much welcome and used to sustain the logistical support of the program.
