Braves Apply Mercy Rule, Will Defend Title

Guam – The Moylan’s ODC Braves figured enough was enough and are now going to defend the title against the AK Islanders in the final series of the Budweiser Baseball League.

The defending champs started their scoring early in Game 5 against the Bank Of Guam A’s and took a 4-0 lead after 2 innings before the skies opened up and delayed the game for awhile.  When the game resumed in the third inning, so did the scoring.

Three runs in the top of the fourth, three runs in the top of the 6th and two runs in the seventh sealed the unwanted fate for the A’s with the mercy rule going into effect.

The Braves exhibited great defense and kept the A’s out of scoring position for the entire game.

Now the Braves will go up against the AK Islanders in the best of seven final series and the team they beat for the title last season.
BJ Balajadia was 3-3 at the plate and had 5 runs with an RBI.  rico Castro went 2-4 with a run and 3 RBIs and John Salas was 2-3 with a run.  Paul Pangelinan got the win with 4 strikeouts.

The Championship series will begin Tuesday at seven at the Paseo Stadium with a rematch of last season’s series teams.
