Guam – The Atkins Kroll Islanders are playing solid baseball and took advantage of Agana Heights Docomo Reds’ errors in last night’s (Tuesday) Budweiser Baseball Leauge. This puts the Islanders a half game in front of the Moylan’s ODC Braves at second place.
The Islanders have a knack for popping base hits into the gaps that sometimes turns into doubles. A few Reds errors helped bring in a couple of runs for the Islanders.
After the Islanders went up 4-0 by the end of two innings, the Reds started to get going and slowly started to chip away at the lead. By the end of eight innings it was 5-3 and the final score of the game.
Last night both teams experienced an erratic strike zone and questionable calls.
This win puts the Islanders at 9-2 and drops the Reds to 4-6. Isaac Cruz was awarded with the win and got 2 strikeouts. Pat Alvarez finished 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs, TC Cruz went 2-3 with a ribi and Jim Reyes was 1-4 with a run. Barry Nauta got the loss and also struck out 2. JR Hattig was 1-3 with 2 runs and a ribi. Bary Nauta was 2-4 with a ribi and Lynwood Bakers went 2-4 with a run.
Tomorrow night the Saipan Cyclones(1-8) will take on the number one Bank of Guam A’s(9-1). The A’s won the last meeting between the two. Game starts at seven at the Paseo Stadium.
