Guam – It wasn’t a pretty sight for the Saipan Cyclones fans. The less experienced team went against the one of the league’s powerhouse teams for the second time. After challenging the defending Moylan’s ODC Braves last week, the Cyclones had to go up against the AK Islanders last night.
It was a shortened game that ended in 7 innings via the ten run rule. The Cyclones could have kept the game going scoring 4 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the sixth but the Cyclones ended the inning with the bases loaded. The Islanders racked up a 5-0 lead and scored 8 runs in the 3rd inning. A run in the sixth would cap the scoring for the Islanders who now improve to 3-1.
The Islanders lost their first game to the defending Braves and have gone on a 3 game streak since then.
The Islanders keep Saipan in a slump with the 15-5 victory. Joe Pangelinan was given the win and ended with 5 strikeouts. Pat Alvarez was 2-3 with a run and 2 RBIs, JQ Quintanilla went 1-3 with a run and a ribi and Jim Reyes was 1-1 with 3 runs. For Saipan, Ignacio Aldan was 1-3 with a ribi, Manuel Babauta was 1-4 with a run and a RBI and Vicente Camacho went 2-4 with a run and Kris Kaneshiro got the loss with 3Ks.
Tonight’s game should be a very exciting one. The defending 3-0 Braves are facing the Bank Of Guam A’s who are coming off a loss to AK. Game starts at 7pm at the Paseo Stadium.
