AK Stays Alive In Bud Baseball; Braves Lead Series 3-2

Guam- The Atkins Kroll Islanders are staying alive in the Budweiser Baseball League championship series.  Down 1-3 in the best of seven series the Islanders tackled a 5 run deficit and get six runs in the eighth and a productive bottom ninth to seal the win despite Moylan’s ODC Braves’ BJ Balajadia’s solo homer in the eighth.

In the top of the third inning the Braves bats came alive.  Rico Castro sends one high into the air, AK third baseball can’t handle the judgement on the way down allowing runners to post at first and second.

Tony Yatar steps up to the plate and delivers the ball deep into right, where bad judgement was made.  That’s good for an RBI double and ties the game at three a piece.

Tony Doyle keeps the sticks going and hits and RBI single.  After which, Jared Palomo smacks the ball into center field and gets it to hit the GTA billboard.  That one is good for an 2RBI triple.  Another run would score for the Braves and put them up 7-3.

All would be quiet up until the top of the eighth where BJ Balajadia gave us the first home run of the series and what seemed to be the end all shot for AK.
But that’s not AK’s style to give up before the end of the game.

The bottom of the eighth, the baseball gods would smile on AK.  Two Braves errors, back to back RBI singles and a sac fly would tie the ball game at 8-8.  AK would end the innning up 9-8.

Braves’ Jathen Muna Barnes chops an RBI Double to tie the game in the top ninth but in the bottom of the ninth, AK’s Dominic Cruz hits an RBI single with the bases loaded to bring in the winning run.

AK beat the Braves 10-9 to stay alive in the Budweiser Baseball Championship.

Dominic Cruz was 3-5 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs and John Pangelinan go the win on the mound with 2Ks.

Last night the game was cancelled because of rain so game 6 is tomorrow night at seven at the Paseo Stadium.
