Guam Shipyard Sets Bar Early In Men’s Futsal

Guam – The Calvo’s Insurance Men’s Futsal League continued its fast-paced action at Agueda Johnston Middle School Gym last night. Here is a look at the results:

Quality Distributors FC 8-1 Calvo’s Select Care Sidekicks
: Scott Spindel led Quality (2-0) with a hat trick while Matt Cruz and Andre Gadia added a brace each. Jimmy Bush scored the other goal while Nathan Baza scored for Sidekicks (0-2).

Guam Shipyard 21-4 Sinajana Ambassadors
: Setting the bar early for highest-scoring match of the season as well as most goals by a single player in one match, Jason Cunliffe scored seven times to lead Shipyard (2-0). JR Romero and Kiko Santos scored five and four goals, respectively, and Anthony Babauta netted a hat trick. Dave Manibusan and Jake Quichocho added the other Shipyard goals. The Ambassadors (0-2) got scores from Joseph Aguon, Nicolas Cabuhat, Shane Cepeda and a Shipyard own goal.

MDA Cobras 7-4 Fuji-Ichiban Espada FC: Greg Rodriguez and Eddie Lorenzo each scored twice to lead the Cobras (2-0). Vincent Carbullido, Kioni Aflague and Joedee Reyes supplied the other goals. Mike Leon Guerrero had two goals for Fuji (0-2) and Natsuki Recella and Eric Redona also scored.

Strykers 10-7 FC Tiyan
: Hiro Asoshina’s four goals powered Strykers to a season-opening victory. Randy Santos and Joseph Cruz each added a pair of goals and Ross Awa and RC Salas chipped in with one each. Sean Fitzsimmons and Camden Aguon scored twice each for Tiyan (1-1). Kevin Knaeble, Jonathan Bugarin and an own goal completed Tiyan’s tally.

The league continues Sunday with the following matches:

4 p.m. Quality Distributors FC vs. NAPA
5 p.m. CSC Sidekicks vs. Sinajana Ambassadors
6 p.m. Guam Shipyard vs. FC Tiyan
7 p.m. Fuji-Ichiban Espada vs. Strykers
