Shipyard Defeats Bombers 1-0 in Women’s Soccer

Guam – The third week of the 2011 GFA Bud Light Women’s Soccer League completed last night.
Here’s a look at how the teams fared:

76 Strykers 4, Hyundai 3: The defending champions picked up their first victory of the season with goals from Phoebe Minato, Caroline Quigley, Sylvia Mesa and Alexy Barbe. Jannel Banks, Ashley Besagar and Olivia Flores scored for Hyundai.

Quality Distributors 8, Guahan.com 2: The biggest margin of victory this week was achieved in part from Paige Surber’s four goals. Nieves Cabreza and Elisha Benavente added two goals each to help Quality slide into first place thanks to Hyundai and Pretzelmaker Bombers losing their respective matches. Christine Ubaldo and Honoka Recella scored for Guahan.

Orange Crushers 1, dck Masters 1: Jonimonay Tedpahogo gave Crushers the lead in the second half, but Cheri Stewart slotted home a penalty kick to salvage a point in a rematch between last year’s semifinalists.

Guam Shipyard 1, Pretzelmaker Bombers 0: Shipyard kept its 100 percent start to the  season thanks to a first-half goal from Aika Young. The win moves Shipyard up to second with a game in hand.
