Andrew Borja Named Player of the Day In Golden Hoops

Guam – The Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2011 Spring Tournament presented by Aloha Maid and Bank of Guam held completed their fourth week of games Sunday at Tamuning Gym.

Tamuning Typhoons Andrew Borja was named the Bank of Guam Player of the Day in the 20 plus competitive division in a loss against DLX All Stars 51-46 in overtime. Borja scored a game high 17 points.

20 plus competitive division

DLX All Stars 51 OT, Tamuning Typhoons 46.
DeAndre Walker led DLX in the overtime win scoring 15 points followed by Seve Suisuico with 11 points. Typhoons Andrew Borja had a game high 17 points and teammates Edgardo Baza and Darrick Bollinger had 12 points a piece.

Team Justice 53, Inarajan Hawks 46.
Justice John Chaco 13 points, Roque Charfauros 13 points and Jay Casimiro 11 points led the team for a victory. Hawks Dominic Sablan and PJ Chargualaf scored 17 and 14 points each in the loss.

Andersen Defenders 46, ST Corp Club 41.
Defenders Durante Gordan led his team to their first win with 13 points. ST Corp Ivan Babauta and Ken Gutierrez chipped in eight points each.

30 plus competitive division
Tamuning Typhoons 49, SGS Construction 46.
Typhoons Jeremy Russell scored 14 points and teammate Gail Santos had 13 points in the win. SGS Elou Antenorcruz had a game high 18 points followed by Franklin “Jun” Navarro with 17 points.

Inarajan Hawks 65, GFD Club 42.
Hawks Roy Taimanglo and Jose Steven Duenas scored 15 and 14 points respectively for the win. GFD’s Matt Quinata and Ron Taitague scored 16 and 14 points a piece.

40 plus competitive division
Express Signs Club 49, Tamuning Typhoons 40.
Express Signs Joey Santos had 10 points in the win. Typhoons Leo Payumo had a game high 15 points in the loss.

GFD Club 59, Ada’s Trust Club 39.
GFD’s Ray Aguon scored 20 points while teammates Glen Topasna and Benny Cruz had 16 points each. Ada’s Boyet Valerio and Errol Alegre scored 11 points each in the loss.

Inarajan Hawks 39, Team Justice 36.
Hawks Dean Castro had 16 points and Frankie “Z” Taitague scored 14 points in the win. Justice Ron Santos and John Ulloa scored 14 and 11 points in the loss.
