Guam – The Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2011 Spring Tournament presented by Aloha Maid and Bank of Guam held their opening games on Sunday at Tamuning Gym with the participating teams excited to begin.
Opening up for GHC was the youth exhibition game that featured the St. John Knights and Tamuning Typhoons. The Typhoons defeated the Knights 40-20. GHC will feature youth teams for exhibition games each Sunday to promote the IIAAG and GDOE middle school leagues that are ongoing.

20 plus competitive division
Inarajan Hawks 63, DLX All Stars 60. Dominic Sablan led the Hawks to a victory in triple overtime with a game high 22 points. DLX Francis Benitez scored 15 points in the loss. Sablan was named the Bank of Guam Player of the Day.
Team Justice 57, Andersen Defenders 44. Justice’s John Chaco scored 20 points followed by Reggie Rechebong with 12 points. Andersen’s Randell Wilkes had 14 points and teammate Jon Lim scored 12 points.
Tamuning Typhoons 66, ST Corp Club 47. Tony Thacker led the Typhoons with 12 points while teammates Edgardo Baza and Andrew Borja each scored 11 points a piece. ST Corp Joseph Terlaje had a game high 14 points and Ivan Babauta scored 13 points in the loss.
30 plus competitive division
GFD Club 52, Inarajan Hawks 49. GFD’s Ray Aguon had 16 points followed by James Pangelinan with 13 points and Kurt Sanchez with nine points. The Hawks Patrick Mantanona had a game high 18 points while Brandon Cruz scored 16 points.
40 plus competitive division
Express Signs Club 56, Ada’s Trust Club 42. Express Signs Joel Balbastro and Fidel Calalang scored 10 points each for the win. Ada’s Trust Tony Benitez had a
game high 20 points in the loss.
