Guam – This weekend is the 2011 Shell V-Power Smokin’ Wheels.  It’s the 30th anniversary for Guam’s biggest and longest running off-road racing event.

Ikuo Hanawa, the 2009 Shell V-Power Smokin’ Wheels champion will be present. Hahawa is a long-time Baja 1000 trophy truck competitor. He will be competing once again in his 800 horse power Goelander-supported trophy truck in the Shell V-Power Off-Road Buggies and Trucks Endurance Race. He has competed in Smokin’ Wheels for the past ten years.

Alex Smith, the 2008 Shell V-Power Smokin’ Wheels champion is also making a return visit this year. The Shell V-Power Off-Road Buggies and Trucks Endurance Race should be a hot contest between Hanawa, Smith and local favorite, Joey Crisostomo.

A new addition to the line-up of racing this year will be the Cars Plus Tuff Rig Challenge which will feature local racer Joey Quichocho (J.Q.) and U.S. contenders, Leo Kuether (Fat Girl) and Shane Vizenor (Lil Nasty).

This year’s event will once again be held at the Guam International Raceway Park in Yigo.
