Judiciary Makes Payday, Barely

Guam – Friday Was a GovGuam payday and the Judiciary was able to make payroll for its employees, but just barely.

A payless-payday was averted after the Judiciary got a check of $1 million 25-thousand dollars from the Department of Administration.

Court Spokeswoman Maria Cenzon expressed relief,  but she said the Judiciary is still short. According to the budget law Guam’s Courts are owed an additional  $3-million dollars so a number of pending work orders have been delayed.

Cenzon also told PNC News that the the Judicial Council Thursday night approved a resolution affirming its support for the Hay Study recommended salary increases for court employees.

However, those raises have been suspended by order of Governor Calvo because of the current financial crisis.
