The 2020 Census of Guam is recruiting teachers as ambassadors for its Statistics in Schools (SIS) program.
The program is carried out locally in partnership with the Bureau of Statistics and Plans and the 2020 Census of Guam. It uses U.S. Census Bureau statistics to educate pre-K through 12th-grade students about the importance of completing an accurate census count. The SIS program will equip interested teachers with free and engaging activities to use in their classrooms. As ambassadors, teachers will be also promoting SIS events on social media platforms, network with other ambassadors and receive exclusive 2020 Census promotional items.
According to a release, ideal candidates are active pre-K through 12th-grade teachers who are excited to spearhead an islandwide initiative at their schools while shaping the future of their community through social media, collaboration, and leadership. Reviewers will consider each applicant’s past leadership positions or interest in gaining experience, knowledge of SIS materials, and their presence on social media.
To learn more about the SIS program, go to https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/sis.html. Interested teachers that want to become SIS ambassadors must email CLMSO.SISambassador@census.gov. The deadline to apply is September 30th.
