BEACH REPORT: 23 Recreational Waterways Considered Unsafe

Guam – As the island heads into the Veteran’s Day holiday, the Guam Environmental Protection Agency has announced the following recreational waters were tested to be polluted above the accepted bacteriological standards this week:

TAMUNING Gun Beach, Gognga Beach, Ypao Beach
HAGATNA Padre Palomo Park Beach
ASAN Adelup Beach Park, Adelup Point Beach (West), Asan Bay Beach
PITI Santos Memorial Park, United Seamen’s Service Beach, Port Authority Beach
AGAT Togcha Beach near Namo River, Togcha Beach, Agat Park Beach, Togcha Beach – near Southern Christian Academy, Bangi Beach, Nimitz Beach
UMATAC Umatac Bay, Toguan Bay
MERIZO Merizo Pier at Mamaon Channel
INARAJAN Inarajan Pool, Inarajan Bay
TALOFOFO Talofofo Bay, Togcha Bay
CHALAN PAGOORDOT Pago Bay

West Hagåtña Bay also remains closed due to outflow from the Hagatna Sewage Treatment Palnt.  The closure includes Hagatna Boat Basin and Channel and the West Hagatna Beach Park.

GEPA warns that swimming, fishing or playing in unsafe waters may result in minor illness such as sore throat or diarrhea.
