Several individuals and families received an early Christmas gift from the Guam Housing Corporation — that first step toward owning their own home.
GHC announced that around 24 will be given their certificates for the first-time homeowners program.
Because of the pandemic, the Governor’s Office and GHC held a virtual ceremony to recognize the recipients.
GHC administers the housing program, which provides eligible applicants a grant of up to $10,000 or 4 percent of the total purchase price or construction cost of the home inclusive of closing costs.
GHC Acting President Alice Taijeron congratulated the 24 recipients of the program.
“Since coming on board, this is going to be our third presentation for first-time homeowners and we are very excited about this. We hope you make your house a home,” Taijeron said.
Last year, 34 families were awarded first-time homeowner grants totaling nearly $277,000, according to GHC’s 2019 citizen-centric report.
