25 positive for COVID-19; 18 of them tested by the Navy

A total of 25 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today, Friday, Aug. 14, the Joint Information Center reported.

Of the 25 newly confirmed cases, 18 were reported by the Navy.

According to the cumulative results table provided by the JIC, 18 samples were tested by Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) /U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) Guam and all 18 tested positive.

“This is huge. This is unprecedented,” a medical professional who requested anonymity told PNC.

The source added that most of the 18 DoD COVID-positive were probably National Guard personnel tested at Naval Hospital Guam.

Four cases were identified through contact tracing and one case reported recent travel from the continental US and was identified in a quarantine facility.

To date, there have been a total of 502 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 5 deaths, 345 released from isolation, and 152 active cases. Of those cases, 443 are classified as civilians and 59 are military service members.
