$3 Million In ARRA Funds Go to DOE Contracts


Guam- Governor Calvo today signed nearly $3 Million dollars in contracts for Education funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

During a press conference at the Governor’s office today it was announced that the contracts will go towards Science and Technology Programs, Professional Development, and Programs to assist students who speak English as their Second Language.

Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Underwood said contract funding for the STEM Project (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) will also help attract students to Higher Education Programs available through Guam Community College and the University of Guam.

Governor Calvo said the ARRA funds are important way to make up for the lack of funding available through the local government.
