34 test positive for COVID-19 as CAR score dips below 5 to 4.2

617

The Joint Information Center reported only 34 new cases of COVID-19 out of 810 tested as the island’s COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score dipped below the 5.0 mark, settling down to 4.2.

The CAR Score accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. An ideal CAR Score for Guam would be 5.0 and below.

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero has said that she is inclined to lift additional social gathering restrictions for the coming holidays if the island achieves a CAR score of 5 or less for the next few weeks.

To date, there have been a total of 6,852 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 112 deaths, 923 cases in active isolation and 5,817 not in active isolation.

From November 27–29, a total of 84 cases of COVID-19 were officially reported. Fifty (50) of these cases were previously reported by the Joint Information Center on Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29. Of these cases, 43 cases were identified through contact tracing. Six (6) cases reported recent travel and were identified in quarantine.
