4 More Arrested in the “Case of the Unknown Cell Number”

Guam – Guam police have arrested 4 more people in connection with the February 4th robbery of 6 guns and ammo from a Yigo home.

Earlier this week police arrested 2 brothers and their step-father and they have been charged with that weapons robbery.  Police cracked the case by tracing an unfamiliar cell phone number found on the cordless phone in the Yigo home.

Now, according to a release from GPD Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia, 4 additional arrests have been made in the case, and authorities recovered one of the stolen firearms, and drugs.

Officer Balajadia reports that Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) along with SWAT and the Criminal Justice Strike Force (CJSF) executed a search warrant at a home in the Anao area of Yigo yesterday. 

He says that  during that  search “detectives located three firearms: one which was confirmed to come from the Yigo burglary, another from an unrelated Theft of Property and discovered ammunition, small amounts of currency and drugs (Crystal methamphetamine), which allegedly some of the suspects were trying to destroy as police made entry into the house.”

40 year old Bryan Ray Bautista of Dededo, 27 year old Nellie Topasna Penaflor of Dededo and 32 year old Allan Philip Santos also of Dededo have been booked and confined on various drugs and firearms charges. The 4th suspect, 36 year old Leo Cruz Santiago of Harmon was booked and released for “Fraudulent Use of a License Plate.”

GUAM POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS

YIGO – Earlier this month, February (2014), a residence in Yigo was burglarized. Six firearms and ammunition were stolen from within that residence.

Information developed during the preliminary investigation conducted by officers from the Dededo Precinct Command (DPC) and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) established leads and possible suspects.

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, several persons of interest were brought in for questioning. Information developed during these interviews leading to the arrest of:

Joshua Tedtaotao Pangelinan
Jathan Tedtaotao Pangelinan
Antonio Roque Quitugua

who were all previously booked and confined on burglary, theft of property and related charges at the Hagatna Detention Facility.

Additional information developed into the investigation which identified a residence in Yigo where several more suspects were and some of the alleged
stolen firearms were taken.

Yesterday afternoon Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) along with SWAT and the Criminal Justice Strike Force (CJSF) executed the search warrant in the Anao area of Yigo relative to this in investigation.

Arrested during this investigation was:

Alan Philip Santos, Male, Chamorro, Age 32, from Dededo, for Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Destroying Evidence.

Leo Cruz Santiago, Male, Filipino, Age 36, from Harmon for Fraudulent Use of a License Plate.

Bautista, Penaflor and Santos were all booked and confined at the Hagatna Detention Facility, while Santiago was booked and released.

This case remains under investigation.
