A 40-year-old man was found unresponsive in his GovGuam quarantine facility room Tuesday night.
Krystal Paco-San Agustin, the Governor’s Press Secretary, confirmed with PNC News that the individual was a Chuukese male.
The man was staying at the Oceanview Hotel facility.
After being found unresponsive in his room, he was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a little after midnight.
The death is not COVID related, as confirmed by Paco-San Agustin. She said the deceased was swabbed and tested negative for the virus.
“We understand that individual had underlying health conditions,” said Paco-San Agustin.
It is unclear what the cause of death is and a determination on whether an autopsy is being performed has not been made.
