Guam- Governor Eddie Calvo wants address the misconception that he fired the Guam Board of Medical Examiners.
He continues to clarify there were some positions that were open and felt the best course of action was to notify members their terms expired. From there, Calvo says he could re-appoint members that still had on-going terms and fill in vacant positions. So far, the Governor’s Office has confirmed Dr. Joan Gill has been re-appointed. The other new members include Dr. Kia Rahmani,Dr. Aurelio Espinola, Dr. Sam Friedman,, and Dr. Raynald Lim.
“We believe the best course of action was to, again, ensuring there is clarity, again, end the terms of the current membership of the board of examiners” said Calvo. “But then with that, re-appoint those that we believe their terms were still on-going and with those vacant positions, appoint these new positions.”
Calvo says it’s important the board bring different areas of the medical community together to figure out how to provide the best quality of service to Guam.
