Guam- 55 outstanding employers from Guam and the CNMI were honored this past Saturday, June 1 by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
ESGR Program Administrator Major Josephine Blas says their 5th Annual Employer Awards Gala at the Sheraton Resort was successful in bringing out over 320 employers, community leaders and service members. She mentions employers were nominated by service members in four different categories. The top 3 employers of 2013 were also announced, which included Wettengale Elementary School for the public category, Ambros Incorporated for the small business category and DZSP-21 LLC for the large business category. Blas also says the Sorensen Media Group, the parent company of the Pacific News Center, received the Seven Seals Award at the gala for its support of the “Go Guam, Keep Your Guard Up” campaign.
“The employers are nominated by the service members for their support with their service,” said Blas. “We take all those nominations and then we rank them in the various categories and then we award up to the top 3 employers on Guam. I think they were just grateful for the nomination. of course, we’re always thanking them for supporting our troops and we’ll continue to thank them. Their support to our troops just allows them to do what they do everyday in protection of our nation and our island.”
The theme for the evening event was “We All Serve.” ESGR was created in 1972 to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve.
