Guam Police are still investigating a fatal crash that left a 55-year-old man dead on Wednesday evening in Harmon.

GPD Spokesperson, Sergeant Paul Tapao, says their preliminary reports suggest that a black Hyundai Elantra was traveling north in the middle lane on Route 16 (Army Drive), by JC Marketing, when another vehicle had encroached into the lane.

The operator of the Elantra took “evasive action,” according to GPD, which caused it to run off the roadway and collide with a concrete utility pole.

As a result of the crash, the 55-year-old male driver of the Elantra was taken to Guam Regional Medical City and later succumbed to his injuries.

He was pronounced dead by attending physicians.

The two passengers in that vehicle were transported to Guam Memorial Hospital for treatment and care.

GPD’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing its investigation.
