5th Asia-Pacific High School Mock Trial Invitational Tournament Held; St. John’s School Takes First Place

Guam Judicial Center, Hagåtña, Guam – The Judiciary of Guam and the Federal District Court of Guam co-sponsored the 5th Asia-Pacific High School Mock Trial Invitational Tournament from February 6 – February 8.

More than 60 students including 28 from Korea, teacher-coaches and attorney-coaches from 4 Guam high schools and 4 Korean high schools participated in 4 rounds of 4 matches over the course of three days.

Matches were generally very close, with 5 of 16 decided by just 1 point or less (one match required a tiebreaker), and more than half of the matches (9 of 16) decided by 4 points or less. The final standings were as follows:

First Place:                                  -Saint John’s School
(4 wins – 0 losses)

Second Place (TIE):                   – Academy of Our Lady of Guam
(Three wins, 1 loss)                     – Daewon Foreign Language School

Fourth Place (3-way TIE):
        -Cheongshim International Academy
(Two wins, 2 losses)                    -Korean Minjok Leadership Academy – Team 1
                                                     -Korean Minjok Leadership Academy – Team 2

Also recognized were the overall winners from the Outstanding Attorney & Outstanding Witness selected at each match.
