5X Champ Eliminated in Golden Hoops


Tamuning, Guam – Bud Light Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2014 Spring Tournament enters its final weekend of games with the semi finals scheduled on Saturday and championship game day on Sunday at Tamuning Gym in the men’s varsity, 30 plus masters and recreation division.

“It’s been seven weeks of games and the fans are looking forward to championship game day on Sunday. It will be an exciting day of competitive games,” stated tournament coordinator Elsa Ulloa.

In the 30 plus masters division it was a heartbreaking loss for the five time defending champs Tamuning Typhoons on Sunday. The Typhoons were eliminated in overtime 64-61 by the Enforcers who advance to the semi finals losers bracket to face Team Justice.

The Kings who secured a slot on championship game day after beating Team Justice 52-49 in the semi finals winners bracket. The Kings wait patiently for winner in the semi final losers bracket between Justice and Enforcers.

Sticky Bandits eliminated Andersen Hawks 50-43; Tamuning Typhoons I eliminated Team Justice 87-57; Tamuning Typhoons II sent the Andersen Bombers to the semi finals losers bracket after a 69-64 win; Tamuning Typhoons I eliminated Sticky Bandits 93-75.

Recreation coed division:

Seed 4-Ada’s Trust Thunder 40, Seed 5-Tango Inc 28; Seed 2-Tamuning Typhoons 41, Seed 3-MTM Falcons 34; Seed 1-Fuetsa Club 81, Ada’s Trust Thunder 35.
