6 COVID-linked deaths reported, including 2 previously unreported

The Joint Information Center (JIC) was notified of six (6) COVID-19-related fatalities, including two previously unreported COVID-19-related deaths from September and October 2021.

  • The 250th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on September 11, 2021. The patient was a 92-year-old female, unvaccinated with underlying health conditions, and was a known positive case.

  • The 251st COVID-19-related fatality occurred at GRMC on October 24, 2021. The patient was a 70-year-old male, unvaccinated with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on October 10, 2021.

  • The 252nd COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) on November 5, 2021. The patient was a 72-year-old male, unvaccinated with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on November 1, 2021.

  • The 253rd COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the GRMC on November 8, 2021. The patient was an 81-year-old female, fully vaccinated with underlying health conditions. She tested positive on October 30, 2021.

  • The 254th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) on November 8, 2021. The patient was a 72-year-old male, fully vaccinated with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on October 29, 2021.

  • The 255th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at GMH on November 9, 2021. The patient was a 74-year-old female, unvaccinated with underlying health conditions. She tested positive on November 9, 2021.

“Josh, Jeff, and I are deeply saddened with each report of losses from our community,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “We grieve with the island and pray the memories of them bring solace in these difficult times. Even though we remain in the clutches of the COVID-19 virus, our efforts will not waver. The basic mitigation measures including wearing your mask, washing your hands, watching your distance, and getting vaccinated remain the greatest defenses in this fight.”
