64 Year Old Man Arrested on Marijuana Charge; GPD Officer Who Co-Owned Astumbo Home Where Plants Were Found Cleared

Guam – Guam Police have arrested 64 year old Jesus Santos Duenas in connection with the marijuana plants seized last Friday at a home in Astumbo Dededo.

GPD Spokesman Lt. Art Paulino told PNC News that a Guam Police Officer, who co-owns the home where the marijuana was found, has been cleared of any involvement.

Lt. Paulino said even though Officer Jeffrey Duenas is the son of the suspect who was arrested, and he co-owns the home with his father, he said Offcier Duenas did not live there. And an internal investigation has cleared him of any connection to the marijuana that was openly growing along the property line at the home.

Officer Duenas is assigned to the Governor’s security detail.

“Officer Duenas had no part in cultivating or manufacturing of the substance. He does not reside there, or frequent the residence,” said Lt. Paulino.

Meanwhile, Lt. Paulino reports that GPD narcotics detectives arrested Duenas just after 3pm Wednesday afternoon. Duenas has been booked and confined on a charge of Manufacturing a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance.

In all, Lt. Paulino says,  5 large and 4 smaller marijuana plants were seized from the home in Astumbo.
