Guam – Gov Guam employees and their families gathered at Ypao beach Sunday for GovGuam’s annual labor day picnic. This is the first labor day picnic to be hosted by the new administration.

The annual picnic allows the various Gov Guam agencies to get together and compete in various games. It featured a cha cha competition, tug of war, volleyball tournament, best decorated table contest, and a governor’s choice awards for best food.

2011 Gov Guam labor day picnic co-chair Jesse Alig said this year’s contest was a success. “One of the things we did this year is we invited the military and so different agencies hosted the different branches of the armed forces and so they attended our meetings from the very beginning so it was a good partnership with them,” said Alig.

Event organizers estimate that there were roughly a couple thousand people who participated in yesterday’s labor day picnic.
