Brandon Acosta found guilty of rape and murder

Brandon Michael Acosta was was found guilty of the rape and murder of 15-year-old Timmica Nauta.

After less than 24 hours in deliberation, the verdict is in — Brandon Michael Acosta has been found guilty of the rape and murder of Timicca Nauta.

The family of slain 15-year-old Timicca Nauta has waited two years for justice to prevail. Late this afternoon, the jury in the murder trial reached a verdict. Acosta was found guilty on almost all charges.

The charges against Acosta include aggravated murder, murder, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, with special allegation of possession and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

He was also convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and home invasion. He is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.

It was noted by Acosta’s attorney that an appeal of the verdict may be filed. A hearing has been set in line with Acosta’s assertion to be sentenced within 21 days. The hearing is set for August 12th.
