Guam – Acting Governor Ray Tenorio is applauding the efforts of Guam’s professional social workers and their commitment to the island’s most vulnerable citizens.
He also helped to raise awareness for the community’s developmentally disabled individuals. A proclamation signing ceremony was held for “Professional Social Workers Month” and “Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month” at Adelup Monday morning.
“It is important that we acknowledge these people and applaud the work they do. From the social workers who ensure vulnerable members of our community reach their maximum potential, and to the disabled citizens who work to effectively diminish stereotypes against them,” said acting Governor Tenorio. “These men and women, along with their support network do so much for the island by providing and improving services for their fellow island residents – they are true pioneers in their missions.”
In addition, the acting Governor recognized Guam’s accountants for their professionalism and commitment to strengthening Guam’s finances.
In attendance were various members of the community including the Guam Developmental Disabilities Council, the Association of Guam Accountants, and the National Association of Social Workers – Guam Chapter.
