Guam – In recognition of their valuable service to the island, emergency medical service personnel were praised during a proclamation signing.

On Friday, a proclamation was signed in Adelup in honor of EMS Week 2019. The event was held to commend EMS professionals or first responders for their service to the community.

The theme for this year’s EMS week was “EMS Strong: Beyond the Call, which represents the many roles of first responders and their commitment to the people they serve.

Guam Fire Department Chief Daniel Stone commends the EMS community for their dedication to the island.

“The empathy and professionalism of our EMTs is unmatched. But also, underappreciated at times. EMS Week is the chance for our community to get together to recognize these fine medical personnel and the contributions they have made towards the safety and health towards our island,”

At the signing, awards for Provider of the Year as well as Life Saving Awardees were administered.
