Afghan War Claims the Life of 19 Year Old Yigo Solider Jaysine Petree

Guam – Army Sergeant Ed Capson of the Casualty Assistance Office confirms that Yigo solider Jaysine S. Petree was killed in Afghanistan last Friday,  September 24th by an Improvised Explosive Device [IED].

The 19 year old was a Private First Class assigned to the 109th Transport Company [TC] out of Fort Richardson in Anchorage Alaska. That is a motor transport division.

Her father Herbert Petree is a Corrections Officer at the Guam Department of Corrections. He told PNC News this morning that his daughter was born in the Philippines but grew up here on Guam and was a graduate of Simon Sanchez High School.

He said that she had been in the service for 19 months.

Rosaries are being said at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Yigo at 7:30 nightly until October 1st.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
