Guam – A Superior Court jury has found Eugene R. Lane guilty on all counts of robbery and theft involving 3 seperate victims.
The verdict was handed down Wednesday afternoon.
A release from the AG says that Assistant Attorneys General Stephen Leon Guerrero and Mikaela Silkey prosecuted Lane on 2 counts of Robbery as a second degree felony, including other felony theft related offenses. They were assisted by investigator James Cruz and staff.
The jury’s verdict followed a nine day trial.
According to the release from the AG lane was involved in a spree of robberies in July of last year.
The robberies occured at the Winster Gameroom in Harmon, the Days Inn Hotel in Maite and the Funland Gameroom located in Yona.
Prosecutors say that Lane held the cashiers and front desk receptionist at gunpoint and stole cash from their registers.
Lane was captured on video surveillance during the commission of the robbery at the Days Inn Hotel.
Attorney General Rapadas stated, “We are pleased with the decision of jury and the people of Guam are safer now that this dangerous criminal is behind bars. I can only hope that this brings some closure to the victims involved.”
Lane faces up to twenty-five years in prison with a sentencing date of April 8th at 9:00a.m. before the Honorable Elizabeth Barrett-Andersen.
